The 2026 PhD Workshop will take place at the KLU Asia Campus in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The location offers participants direct exposure to a fast-growing logistics and supply chain environment in Southeast Asia. Ho Chi Minh City provides a rich context for studying supply chain development, manufacturing, logistics services, freight markets, sustainability challenges, and the role of infrastructure and operations in emerging markets.
The workshop uses this setting not only as a location, but as an integral part of the learning experience. Through field visits, practitioner discussions, and research-oriented reflection sessions, participants will connect academic concepts with the realities of logistics and supply chain management in Vietnam.

Program Overview
The PhD Workshop 2026 aims to help doctoral researchers develop high-quality academic work with practical relevance for logistics and supply chain management. Hosted at the KLU Asia Campus in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the workshop connects rigorous research training with exposure to current logistics and supply chain challenges in one of Asia’s most dynamic emerging market environments.
The program combines academic lectures, interactive discussions, field exposure, practitioner engagement, and structured feedback on participants’ PhD research. A central theme of the workshop is how doctoral researchers can create meaningful impact with their work; both in academic debates and in practice. Sessions will address topics such as field experiments, logistics and supply chain challenges in Vietnam, supply chain design and geopolitics, forecasting freight rates in volatile times, cold chain logistics, human-factor issues in logistics operations, and sustainability, including the logistics of CO₂ removal.
A distinctive feature of the workshop is the close integration of research and context. Participants will engage with Vietnamese logistics and supply chain realities through a field trip, an industry panel, and discussions with researchers and practitioners. These elements are designed to help participants understand how logistics systems operate in practice, how emerging market conditions shape research opportunities, and how empirical insights can be translated into stronger research questions.
Participants will also present and discuss their own PhD research. The workshop includes a poster session with a flying dinner, as well as dedicated sessions on research ideation and linking research challenges to practical logistics and supply chain problems. In addition, the program offers networking opportunities, dinners, and social activities in Ho Chi Minh City.
