Module description: The focus of this course is the strategic design of supply chain networks. Supply chain design decisions have extraordinary impact on the cost and service value attributes of a product or service over its lifetime. Strategic supply chain management concerns the effective design and longterm planning of a network of interconnected businesses involved. Supply Chain Design and Strategy looks at the supply network as a strategic asset, as increasingly supply chains compete, and not individual companies. This course covers theories, concepts and tools related to strategic supply chain alignment to achieve a fit of customers and markets with operations including information, network relationships, management and leadership. In addition, modern challenges and risks in designing and operating the supply chains in today’s dynamic business environments are addressed.
