2nd Place in Global Social Logistics Challenge 2024 by Bahir Dar University Bachelor Students

Five students from Bahir Dar University in Ethiopia (namely: Abreham Tafese, Yonas Tilahun, Abraham Kasahun, Abera Gude, and Yoseph Muluken), who are in their third year in the Bachelor study degree program in Logistics and Supply Chain Management have excelled themselves with a 2nd place in the Annual and Global Social Logistics Challenge issued by the Global Business School Network (GBSN) in 2024. They addressed a key local challenge in Ethiopia and pitched for "FITS" that a is a platform concept integrating Blockchain and AI technology to tackle key farmers' problems and to create a more sustainable agro-supply chain. The students submitted a full written concept note and progressed to the top five final round from a total of 64 international submissions. In their virtual live-pitch the group presented their approach to the international judging panel and responded eloquently to the panel's questions and remarks.

Besides the Silver Medal achieved by Bahir Dar University, a student team from the University of Nairobi (Uon) in Kenya has also been ranked amongst the Top Five Teams in the Competition with the best concept note to address socially relevant logistics challenges. 

 

Finally, the student team from Makarere University in Uganda has been awarded one of two "The Resiliency Initiative Scholarships", a separate award in addtion to the main competition that provides the opportunity to attend a virtual workshop in crises response and resilience management offered by The Resilience Academy.
